Vacancy Description:

Davis Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Severe and Profound Special Education Teacher to provide individualized instruction and support to students with significant cognitive, physical, medical, behavioral, and/or developmental disabilities. The ideal candidate will create a safe, structured, and nurturing learning environment that promotes student growth, independence, communication, and functional life skills. The teacher will develop and implement Individualized Education Programs (IEPs), adapt curriculum and instructional strategies to meet diverse student needs, and provide direct instruction in areas such as communication, academics, daily living skills, social-emotional development, and vocational readiness. Responsibilities include monitoring student progress, maintaining compliance with state and federal special education requirements, collaborating with related service providers and general education staff, and maintaining regular communication with parents and guardians. The successful candidate will work closely with paraprofessionals, therapists, administrators, and families to ensure students receive comprehensive support and meaningful educational opportunities. Additional responsibilities include managing student behavior through positive behavioral interventions, assisting with personal care needs when required, and fostering an inclusive environment that celebrates each student's unique abilities and achievements. Candidates should demonstrate patience, flexibility, strong organizational skills, and a genuine passion for serving students with significant disabilities. Preference will be given to individuals holding appropriate Oklahoma Special Education certification or those eligible for certification. Experience working with students with severe and profound disabilities, autism, multiple disabilities, or complex medical needs is preferred.

The Math Instructor for Davis Public Schools will provide engaging and comprehensive instruction to students at the secondary level, fostering critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a strong foundation in mathematics. This position is responsible for developing and delivering standards-based lessons that meet the diverse needs of students, managing classroom environments that promote positive behavior and active participation, and teaching mathematical concepts including algebra, geometry, statistics, probability, and other secondary mathematics courses as assigned.

The instructor will assess student progress through a variety of formative and summative measures, maintain accurate records, and collaborate with teachers and administrators to support overall student success. Additional responsibilities include analyzing student data to guide instruction, providing intervention and enrichment opportunities, supporting district academic goals, and encouraging students to develop confidence and perseverance in mathematics.

Candidates should demonstrate strong classroom management skills, a passion for working with students, and the ability to create a positive and inclusive learning environment. Preference will be given to individuals holding appropriate Oklahoma certification in Mathematics or related fields, with a commitment to helping students achieve academic success and prepare for college, career, and life beyond high school.

Paraprofessional

Davis Public Schools is seeking a dedicated and student-centered Paraprofessional to support teachers and students in creating a positive, safe, and productive learning environment. The paraprofessional will work under the supervision of certified staff to provide instructional, behavioral, and classroom support that helps students achieve academic and personal success.

Responsibilities include assisting teachers with classroom instruction and activities, working with individual students or small groups to reinforce learning objectives, supervising students in various school settings, and helping maintain a structured and organized classroom environment. The paraprofessional may assist with preparing instructional materials, monitoring student progress, supporting behavior management strategies, and providing accommodations for students with diverse learning needs.

In special education settings, the paraprofessional may assist students with academic tasks, communication, social skills development, mobility, personal care, and daily living skills as directed by the teacher and Individualized Education Program (IEP). The position requires maintaining confidentiality, promoting student independence, and fostering positive relationships with students, staff, and families.

The successful candidate will demonstrate patience, flexibility, professionalism, and a genuine commitment to supporting student growth and success. Strong communication skills, dependability, and the ability to work collaboratively as part of a team are essential.

Qualifications:

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
