Vacancy Description:
The Secondary Social Studies Instructor at Davis Public Schools is responsible for providing engaging, rigorous, and student-centered instruction that promotes critical thinking, civic responsibility, historical understanding, and informed decision-making. The instructor will create a positive classroom environment where students are challenged to think analytically, engage in meaningful discussion, and develop an appreciation for history, government, geography, economics, and the social sciences.
Responsibilities include planning and delivering standards-based lessons aligned with the Oklahoma Academic Standards; differentiating instruction to meet the diverse academic needs of students; and teaching courses such as Oklahoma History, United States History, World History, Government, Geography, Economics, and other secondary social studies courses as assigned.
The instructor will assess student learning through a variety of formative and summative assessments, analyze data to guide instructional decisions, maintain accurate records, and communicate student progress with parents and school personnel. The successful candidate will collaborate with colleagues and administrators to support district initiatives, participate in professional learning opportunities, and contribute to a culture of continuous improvement.
Additional responsibilities include incorporating primary and secondary source analysis, promoting civic engagement, integrating technology and real-world connections into instruction, providing intervention and enrichment opportunities, supporting school-wide academic goals, maintaining effective classroom management, and fostering respectful, positive relationships with students, families, and colleagues.
Candidates should possess strong instructional and classroom management skills, excellent communication and organizational abilities, and a passion for helping students understand the world around them. Preference will be given to applicants who hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate in Secondary Social Studies or are eligible for certification. The ideal candidate demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence, continuous professional growth, and preparing students to become informed, responsible citizens and lifelong learners.

Vacancy Description:
The Reading Specialist will collaborate with classroom teachers, special education staff, instructional coaches, and administrators to support high-quality literacy instruction across grade levels. This includes modeling effective instructional strategies, assisting with data analysis, participating in Multi-Tiered System of Supports (MTSS) meetings, and providing professional learning aand coaching to staff as needed.
Additional responsibilities include maintaining accurate student records, communicating student progress with parents and staff, supporting dyslexia screening and intervention efforts, assisting with literacy initiatives and grant requirements, integrating instructional technology when appropriate, and fostering a positive learning environment that encourages student confidence and academic success.
Candidates should possess strong knowledge of evidence-based literacy instruction, reading assessment, intervention strategies, and differentiated instruction. The successful candidate will demonstrate excellent communication, collaboration, organizational, and classroom management skills while maintaining a passion for helping all students become successful readers.
Preference will be given to applicants who hold a valid Oklahoma teaching certificate with Reading Specialist certification or who possess advanced training in literacy instruction, the Science of Reading, dyslexia intervention, or related fields. The ideal candidate is committed to continuous professional growth, collaborative problem-solving, and ensuring every student develops the literacy skills necessary for success in school and beyond.
