Our 3rd grade little wolves arrived to school today to find…fur here, fur there, traces of fur everywhere! Mrs. Lampkin and students took great care in handling the evidence. They bagged it, logged the information and turned it into the office. Camera footage was pulled and we must say, this guy is un”bell”ievable! Thursday night footage recorded him ringing the DES celebration bell making us all wonder just what goal this big guy achieved? (Probably logging lots of reading minutes!)🔔🔔🔔 After a stroll down the hall, it seems he stopped by the 3rd grade classrooms and sat in Mrs. Lampkin’s room to read the book, ‘The Boy Who Cried Bigfoot’ which was found at the scene….Proof that Bigfoot truly Reads Like A Beast!👣📚

Bigfoot SLID into Thursday like a book loving Beast with wild hair and a lot of flair! It’s evident this fellow, though a mysterious fan favorite, ISN’T a fan of crowds. This is early morning footage of Bigfoot enjoying some relaxing reading time and playground fun before the pack of little wolves head to school for the day! Bigfoot logged his reading minutes early today! Keep Reading Like a Beast little wolves! (AND Bigfoot)👣

Bigfoot, party of one, as we catch footage of his late night visit to our elementary book fair. It seems our furry friend is really serious about Unleashing His Reading Beast! We called in an investigative team of National Park Rangers to interview students who might have information regarding his whereabouts and comb the campus for further evidence which might help in finding this book loving beast! Don’t let Bigfoot outread you Davis Elementary!!! Read Like a Beast and log your minutes tonight!👣📚

The Mystery Reader for Mrs. King’s class was Daryn’s dad, Mr. Owens. He read ‘I Can Do Hard Things’, a book about being brave enough to do what’s right. Mr. Owens talked to the second grade class about listening to their hearts, being an encourager, asking for help, not giving up, sharing their talents, saying no when they need to, being strong, apologizing when they need to, working hard, and making good choices.

The Read Like A Beast word must have spread farther than we thought! The cameras at Davis Elementary picked up footage of this furry fellow yesterday evening! Voice audio though a little gruff seems to have recorded him saying the word “BOOK!” over and over! We believe he may have heard about our Read Like A Beast Read-a-thon and our Book Fair! From “FOOT”age , it looks like he found a book in Mrs. Webb’s office! We sure hope he’s logging his reading minutes for the read-a-thon! Make sure you are too little wolves!👣📚

Davis Elementary School has decided to hold a Read-a-thon this year!
Read-a-thons actually get your reader excited about reading and it gives friends and family the opportunity to encourage your child to read even more.
Our Read-a-thon starts Monday February 26, 2024.
About one week before our Read-a-thon starts we will send home instructions on how to activate your reader's personal page. This is where you will be able to view and record their progress.
We encourage you to activate your reader’s account today by clicking on https://www.read-a-thon.com/readers/r/3538393332/1 and following the simple instructions.
We've chosen Read-a-thon because it will not take much of your time, gives your child a reason to read and helps in the development of stronger reading skills.
We hope EVERYONE participates.
Thanks so much,
Davis Elementary School
